Neutering our way to no-kill

We met our goal for our TNR matching campaign. THANK YOU all so much! Because of you, we can now spay/neuter 300 community cats!!

Community/feral cats are the biggest reason our community hasn't been able to achieve no-kill numbers (a save rate of 90% or higher). In 2016, the Burlington County Animal Shelter had a 91% save rate for dogs and 64% save rate for cats. More than 800 cats were euthanized, the majority of them community cats.

The Friends of BCAS is dedicated to helping our county shelter reach a no-kill threshold for cats. To make that happen, we must reduce the number of cats and kittens entering the shelter. We aim to do that through low-cost spay/neuter and trap-neuter-return (TNR) of community cats.

It costs $35 to spay/neuter, vaccinate and ear tip one community cat. We have some extremely generous supporters who will match every $35 donated up to $5,250. That means we can raise $10,500 to spay/neuter 300 community cats! We only need 55 more gifts to meet our goal!

Thank you to our matching donors:

  • Petco Foundation
  • Lisa Miller -- In loving memory of her beloved cats Duffy, Casey and Boris
  • Anne Maxwell -- In memory of Zeke and Jasmine and in appreciation for Lana, her dog adopted from the Burlington County Animal Shelter
  • Liz Malagisi and Albert Kopasz -- In honor of their rescue dogs Kashi and Cooper

Please help us make Burlington County a no-kill community. Use the button below to donate a gift of $35 to save the lives of TWO community cats. A no-kill community starts with you!
