Dog Foster Information

Prior experience is not required but commitment is.  Friends of BCAS needs caregivers to help rescue dogs from the shelter, assists homeless owners while they secure housing, and to provide temporary relief to other foster parents.

Step 1: Fill Out a Dog Foster Application

Once we receive your application, a volunteer will reach out to you to assist with the next steps.  If you don’t hear from us, please check your spam folder or email dogteam@friendsofbcas.org.  You must read the foster manual before being matched with a dog.

Step 2: Foster Agreement & Behavior Release

A volunteer will help you decide on a dog and may ask that existing pets or children in the home get a chance to meet.  We will provide you with a foster agreement and behavioral release that you’ll need to return before you begin fostering.

Step 3: Help Your Foster Dog Shine

Your foster dog cannot find a permanent home without your help and the foster manual is full of great tips to help them stand out.  Also be sure to submit regular updates to your mentor so we can share your adorable photos and videos to our social media platforms.

Step 4: Adoption

When someone is interested in adopting your foster dog let your mentor know and have the potential adopter fill out an adoption application before you arrange a meet.  Once they are ready to adopt, have them fill out an adoption agreement.
